Key takeaways

It is estimated that 7 out of 10 Americans will need long-term care, but the current long-term care system is not prepared to meet the rise in demand, climbing costs, and workforce shortages. CareScout CEO Samir Shah explains how CareScout is responding to these changes with a model that works for people: an integrated aging care ecosystem that helps families understand, find, and fund care, recognizes providers for quality, supports caregivers, and ensures stronger outcomes for insurers.

The challenge we face

America’s long-term care system wasn’t built for what’s ahead. Demand is rising, costs are climbing, and workforce shortages touch every community. Families are often left to make complex decisions in the middle of a crisis. Employers lose valuable employees when caregivers step away. Providers operate in a crowded market where it’s difficult to prove and sustain quality. Insurers balance aging books of business, more claims, and rising care costs.

It’s a system that strains everyone but works for too few.

A better path forward

At CareScout, we believe there’s a better model: an integrated aging care ecosystem that works for families, providers, and insurers alike.

That means helping families:

  • Understand care needs through clear, nurse-led Care Plans that provide personalized guidance and recommendations.

  • Find care with confidence through the CareScout Quality Network, a vetted group of providers who meet rigorous credentialing standards and offer preferred pricing.

  • Fund care through solutions that make quality more affordable and sustainable, whether through insurance partnerships or employer programs.

For providers, this ecosystem raises the bar for quality and helps them differentiate in meaningful ways. For insurers and employers, it supports better outcomes, builds trust, and reduces disruption for their policyholders and employees. By connecting these pieces – understanding, funding, and finding care – we are working to create a system that works for everyone.

Why it matters to me

This isn’t just a professional endeavor for me, it’s a personal one. Years ago, my father suffered a heart attack and a stroke within months of each other. Around the same time, my wife’s father fell ill. Even with industry contacts and resources, my family struggled to coordinate their care. At times, it felt like we were navigating the system alone.

No family should have to feel that way. And yet, too many do. That experience cemented my belief that aging care needs to be simpler, more supportive, and more humane.

Families win. Providers win. Insurers win.

Imagine a system where families find clarity instead of confusion. Where providers are recognized for quality, not just convenience. Where insurers see stronger outcomes and employers retain talent because caregivers have the support they need.

That system isn’t a distant dream. We’re building it today – with partners who share our belief that aging care should work for everyone.
